People of Korčula - Marina Perić
Marina Peric - Designer & Illustrator
Growing up on the island of Korčula during summers - more specifically in the historical old town – leaves a creative footprint on Marina, who today expresses herself through illustrations and textile design. She spends her summertime on the island, where she finds peace and inspiration.
Her roots come from a village of the nearby Pelješac Peninsula, Nakovan - where Marina’s grandfather was born. A part of her family still lives on the Pelješac where they grow grapes for the well-known Dalmatian wines Dingač and Plavac.
Marina currently lives in Switzerland, where she runs her own digital marketing agency. She shows great interest in industrial design, where her talent was recognized by a partner from Čakovec, SmartWay d.o.o. and a joint project was born to design lighting fixtures.
At the beginning of 2019, the construction of a 2.5m lamp began. With the designs of the lamp, Marina came up with the idea of donating that work to Lešić Dimitri Palace in Korčula. Considering that she found inspiration through the Gothic-Renaissance style, it was logical to exhibit such a unique lamp in the heart of the old town of Korčula - more precisely in the courtyard of the Lešić Dimitri Palace “India” residence. With a great ambition to return to the island, hoping to preserve memories of her grandfather in Nakovana - the "lamp" - is just another reminder that when you really want something in life – the whole world sparks to make you achieve that.
