People of Korčula - Vlaho Komparak
This is Vlaho Komparak, young agriculturist from Korčula and one of the most succesful producers of honey in Croatia. He entered the wold of bees with just one bee hive and it was more like a hobby while he was a student on Faculty of Agriculture.
Today he owns 240 bee hives placed among 500 olive trees where more than 20 milions bees live. Every year he produces around 4 tones of honey made from sage, mandarin, heather and strawberry tree honey all of which are made following ecological standards. "It is the result of love, passion and intent to keep the old ways of our grandfathers with a twist of modern technology, the best available to us today"- says Vlaho.
But before he even started to produce honey, Vlaho's family was restoring a big olive grove which belonged to his great grandfather where olive trees were planted more than 300 years ago. Today they produce olive oil which has been awarded with many golden medals.
All guests that are staying in Lešić Dimitri Palace have an opportunity to enjoy the flavours of this high-quality honey and we can offer them an amazing tour through the world of bees on Vlaho's farm
